- 11 January – Around 300 people are confirmed dead in an outbreak of cholera that affects eight of the country's ten provinces.[1]
- January–present – 2024 Zambian drought
- 31 May – Esther Lungu, the wife of former President Edgar Lungu, is arrested along with her daughter Chiyeso Katete and a family friend on suspicion of money laundering.[2]
- 24 July – Guntila Muleya, the director of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, is found dead with gunshot wounds outside Lusaka.[3]
- 7 August - Muzala Samukonga wins a bronze medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in the Men's 400 metres, setting a new national record for Zambia and earning Zambia's first Olympic medal in 28 years.[4]
- 11–12 August – The border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia is closed due to a dispute over the importation of beverages from Zambia.[5]
- 22 August – A health warning is raised over the consumption of contaminated maize following the deaths of 400 dogs nationwide in July due to aflatoxins found in samples of the crop.[6]
