Battambang (Vealbekchan) Airport (Khmer: ព្រលានយន្តហោះវាលបែកចានខេត្តបាត់តំបង) (IATA: BBM, ICAO: VDBG) is an airport serving Battambang,[1] a city in Battambang Province, Cambodia. The airport is 3 kilometers from the city center in Battambang. It has a total land area of 128.68 hectares.
History
The airport commenced operations in 1968. It ended all flights in 1987. It is now a military airbase. In 2018, it reopened for small, private aircraft. In early 2020 the airport was planned to reopen for domestic-commercial flights. In December 2020, it was announced that the reopening plan was still under consideration.
Facilities
The airport resides at an elevation of 60 feet (18 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designed 07/25 with an asphalt surface measuring 1,600 by 40 metres (5,249 ft × 131 ft).[1]
