Gvachvene sheni khma (Georgian: გვაჩვენე შენი ხმა; English: Show us your voice!) is a (country of) Georgian television mystery music game show based on the South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice. It premiered on Rustavi 2 as a pilot episode on 9 May 2023,[1] and has been aired for two seasons.

Gameplay

Format

Presented with a group of six "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist and contestant(s)[a] must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of several rounds.[a] At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.

If the singer is good, the contestant(s) win ₾3,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.

Rounds

Visual round

  • First impression (Georgian: Პირველი შთაბეჭდილება)
s1 pilot: The guest artist and contestant(s) are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance.

Lip sync round

Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else. At the conclusion of performances, the contestant(s) eliminate one mystery singer from each group.

  • Phonogram (Georgian: ფონოგრამა)
s1–2: A pair of mystery singers perform a lip sync of their own through a showdown.[a]

Evidence round

  • Broken phone (Georgian: გატეხილი ტელეფონი)
s1–2: The guest artist and contestant(s) are presented with a video package containing possible clues by one of the mystery singers of their choice.

Interrogation round

  • Interrogation (Georgian: დაკითხვა)
s1–2: The guest artist and contestant(s) may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.

Background

Production and development

A news article from iMBC eNews first reported mentioning (the country of) Georgia to have a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice, at the time of preparing for its recently aired (South Korean) tenth season in February 2023;[4][5] this was subsequently confirmed by Rustavi Broadcasting Company in September 2023.[6][7]

Naming

The show's title Gvachvene sheni khma (Georgian: გვაჩვენე შენი ხმა)[6][7] comes from Show us your voice!, which is a direct English translation of the German title Zeig uns Deine Stimme!, for the third season of German counterpart.[8][9] Also in the pilot episode, it was originally titled Machvene sheni khma (Georgian: მაჩვენე შენი ხმა)[1] from a locally direct translation of its French counterpart Show Me Your Voice.[10][11]

Broadcast history

Gvachvene sheni khma debuted as a pilot episode on 9 May 2023, followed by a first season premiere on 12 September 2023.[b] Three weeks after its first season finale, the series was renewed for a second season[16][17] that premiered on 10 September 2024.[c]

Special episodes

In the first season, a singing competition featuring returned good singers was held on the last day of 2023, followed by a New Year's All-Duet Game on 2 January 2024, featuring an entire pairing lineup of mystery singers with accompanying guest artists.[b]

Cast

The series has a panel of celebrities who assist the guest artist(s) and contestant(s) to decipher mystery singers' identities throughout the game. Alongside with mainstays, guest panelists also appear since the first season. Overall, six different members have been assigned as panelists, with their original lineup being Gigi Dedalamazishvili (of Mgzavrebi), Avto Gvasalia [ka], and Tamar Pkhakadze [ka].

Beside them, subsequent members that have assigned panelist duties also include Archil Sologashvili [ka] (pilot episode and 1st season); Salome Bakuradze [ka] and Oto Nemsadze (also from 1st season).

Notes

  1. ^ a b c For the show's gameplay changes, based on playing time of an episode:[2][3]
    • The number of rounds are set to three (from 1st to 2nd season) or four (for the pilot episode).
      • Also, the lip sync round is conducted into different performing segments; solos (for the pilot episode) and showdown (from 1st to 2nd season).
    • The number of contestants are set to one or a group of two (both from 1st to 2nd season).
  2. ^ a b For the show's overall highlights:
    • Giorgi Nazgaidze [ka] hosted the pilot episode[1] while Tika Patsatsia did the entire 1st season.[2]
    • The New Year's Eve Singing Competition[12] has also include Janiko Izoria (s1 ep. 16), who he performed at the time of taping before he died 4 days later.[13]
    • The New Year's All-Duet Game featured returning guest artists Dato Archvadze [ka], Oto Nemsadze, Lasha Ramishvili [ka],[14] and Nodiko Tatishvili; as well as new players Nino Chkheidze [ka] and host Tika Patsatsia herself.[15]
  3. ^ One such source was found that the 2nd season mistakenly reported as "3rd season", although the 1st season did not split into two separated ones,[18][19] as contrary to similar situations did in the Belgian Dutch-language[20][21] and Israeli counterparts.[22][23][24]
