Major Mackenzie Drive is a major east-west arterial road in southern York Region, Ontario, Canada. The road was formerly a rural road, but with growth in York Region expanding beyond Highway 7, the road is now heavily travelled and becoming more of an urban thoroughfare.

The road passes through 3 municipalities in York Region, but it does not connect with other roads outside of York Region:

History

The road was laid out during the planning by early settlers in the region to divide the land into farms. Much of the farmland is now gone, as residential development expands in York Region towards the north.[2]

Name

The road was named after Major Addison Alexander MacKenzie, a former local politician and World War I veteran.[3]
