Pizza Salvatoré is a Canadian pizza restaurant franchise headquartered in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada operating mainly in Quebec, with additional locations in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. As of July 2024, the chain has 93 locations, 85 of which are in Quebec, 4 in New Brunswick, 3 in Ontario, and 1 in Nova Scotia.[1]

History

The first pizzeria was opened in 1964 in Saint-Georges, Quebec, by Italian immigrant Salvatore Abbatiello and his Beauceronne wife, Angèle Fecteau.[2]

The chain only had 13 locations in 2018, when 5 of Abbatiello's grandchildren bought the chain from their father, with plans to expand into Ontario and New Brunswick[3]

Guillaume Abbatiello took over, developed the network of 13 restaurants and sold the business to the 3rd generation. Having grown up in the pizzeria environment, the five siblings; Sébastien, Guillaume Jr., Frédéric, Élisabeth and Katarina Abbatiello always envisaged getting their hands dirty and taking the reins of the business to make it prosper. Today, Pizza Salvatoré is considered the leader in pizza and poutine delivery in the markets where it operates. Today, with more than 95 restaurants in four Canadian provinces and a sales increase of over 1700% since the takeover, Pizza Salvatoré is the fastest-growing restaurant chain in Canada. Pizza Salvatoré is also the largest pizzeria chain in Quebec. The company specializes in the delivery of pizzas and poutines, always with the aim of providing the best possible products, delivered very quickly. Pizza Salvatoré is best known for its mozzarella-stuffed crust pizzas and gourmet poutines made with fresh cheese of the day.

In 2023-2024, the Salvatoré Group also acquired 7 commercial buildings and the TopLa! restaurant chain, comprising 8 restaurants.

Pizza Salvatoré sold frozen pizzas in supermarkets from September 2023 until April 2024, when it announced pulling out of the market.[4]

Disputes

Pizza Salvatoré has had issues with phone numbers being similar to their competitors, allegedly stealing customers. In 2021, Pizza Salvatoré's restaurant in Drummondville got a formal notice from Pizza Pizza for a phone number ending in 1111, similar to Pizza Pizza's restaurants' phone numbers, who all end in 1111.[5] Later, in 2022, a local pizza chain accused the restaurant in Trois-Rivières of having a similar phone number, ending in 7777, to its four restaurants. The case was sent to the courts.[6]
