Tiernan (Irish: MacTiarnaigh or Ó Tiarnáin; also spelled Tirnan, Tierney) is an Irish surname. Tiernan is also an anglicisation of Tiarnán, a given name derived from the Irish word tiarna "lord" + -án (diminutive suffix).[1]
