Lumbung Yusuf

Yusuf, Pengawas Lumbung-lumbung Firaun karya Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1874).

Lumbung Yusuf adalah sebuah sebutan untuk piramida Mesir yang sering dipakai oleh para penjelajah awal ke kawasan tersebut. Penyebutan lumbung (horreum, θησαυρός) diasosiasikan dengan patriark Ibrani Yusuf yang berasal dari catatan dalam Kejadian 41 dimana “mengumpulkan segala bahan makanan ketujuh tahun kelimpahan yang ada di tanah Mesir, lalu disimpannya di kota-kota ... dan Yusuf menimbun gandum seperti pasir di laut, sangat banyak, sehingga orang berhenti menghitungnya, karena memang tidak terhitung.” (Kejadian 48–49). “Kelaparan itu merajalela di seluruh bumi. Maka Yusuf membuka segala lumbung (horrea Vulgata, σιτοβολῶνας LXX)[1] dan menjual gandum kepada orang Mesir” (Kejadian 41:56). Selain itu, dalam al-Qur'an: "Berkata Yusuf: "Jadikanlah aku bendaharawan (خَزَائِنِ) negara; sesungguhnya aku adalah orang yang pandai menjaga, lagi berpengetahuan'" (12:55).[2]
