Mediterraneo adalah sebuah film Italia 1991 yang memenangkan Academy Award untuk Film Berbahasa Asing Terbaik pada 1991. Film tersebut berlatar belakang Perang Dunia II, dan mengisahkan tentang sekelompok prajurit Italia yang singgal di sebuah pulau Yunani dan meninggalkan perang tersebut. Pemfilman tersebut mengambil tempat di pulau Yunani Kastellórizo, di kompleks pulau Dodecanese.
Alur
Pada 1941, setahun setelah Italia bergabung dengan Jerman dalam melawan Sekutu pada masa Perang Dunia II, sekelompok kecil prajurit Italia yang kurang fit dikirim ke sebuah pulau Yunani kecil di Laut Aegean selama empat bulan. Para prajurit tersebut meliputi seorang letnan yang menyukai seni rupa, seorang sersan yang macho, seorang petani yang membawa keledai kesayangannya Silvana, dan orang-orang lainnya.
Seorang pendeta ortodoks lokal menyuruh letnan, seorang pelukis hari Minggu, untuk merestorasi lukisan-lukisan dinding di gerejanya. Dua prajurit, yang bersaudara, berteman dengan seorang wanita muda yang bekerja sebagai penggembala.
Pada usia tua, ketiga pria tersebut disatukan kembali di pulau tersebut pada akhir film tersebut.[1]
