Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel

The Scarlet Pimpernel je britanski crno-bijeli pustolovni film snimljen 1934. u režiji Harolda Younga. Predstavlja adaptaciju istoimenog romana barunice Emme Orczy. Naslovni lik, koga tumači Leslie Howard, je Sir Percy Blakeney, britanski aristokrat koji za vrijeme Francuske revolucije namjerno koristi krinku feminiziranog slabića kako bi kradom izbavljao francuske aristokrate od revolucionarnog terora. Iza filma je stajao producent Alexander Korda, koji je zajedno sa scenaristom Lajosom Biroom prethodne godine postigao veliki uspjeh sa historijskim filmom The Private Life of Henry VIII; Korda je za ulogu nastojao angažirati Charlesa Laughtona, ali su se nakon najava pobunili poklonici romana, koji su htjeli fizički atraktivnog glumca. Izbor je na kraju pao na Leslieja Howarda i pokazao se kao pun pogodak. Film je doživio veliki uspjeh, a danas se smatra najboljom od svih ekranizacija romana.

Godine 1937. je snimlje nastavak Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel, gdje je naslovnu ulogu tumačio Barry K. Barnes.
